Global Virtual Reference Network
The GDGPS System makes available Virtual Reference Stations to RTK users world-wide. RTCM 104 corrections to user-supplied locations are distributed via the Internet in standard formats that can be interpreted by commercial GPS receivers.
An end-user client application (RTK-VRS) is installed on the user's Windows PC or laptop. The RTK-VRS client receives positioning messages from the GPS receiver and requests corresponding Virtual Reference Station corrections from a GDGPS Operations Center (GOC). The RTK-VRS client then relays the corrections via a serial port or Bluetooth interface to the GPS receiver, allowing centimeter-level positioning performance.
This service is made available globally by the GDGPS network of tracking sites, and does not require any local RTK base station.
